The Northwest Shingo Prize recognizes organizations that use manufacturing and management practices based on the Toyota Production System to achieve world-class results. Recipients of the Prize produce phenomenal statistics that highlight the value of using Lean manufacturing practices to attain world-class status.

The Northwest Shingo Prize is open to companies, divisions and plants that demonstrate excellence in manufacturing and management practices. The following is a list of the criteria and a breakout of the points each element is worth:

Shingo Criteria

The achievement criteria does not prescribe one single best method, system, or route to attaining world-class status. Each element of the criteria lists practices and techniques that might be incorporated to achieve a world-class level of quality, cost, delivery and business results.

To be eligible for the Prize, applicants must submit an Intent to Apply form and an Achievement Report.

Due dates for the the next award are:

Intent to Apply - December 1st

Achievement Report - January 1st

Achievement Reports are reviewed by the Northwest Shingo Prize Board of Examiners. Examiners are practitioners and academicians who have been trained in the Shingo Prize criteria. Those interested in becoming a business examiner may submit a complete resume and biography to the Northwest Shingo Prize Board for review.
